Former Southampton University students, Grant Lang and Damian Snow approached Rick for business support in February 2005 with a vision for a business that they were determined to get off the ground. In the following months they invested their own savings and convinced 2 investors to make up the difference in order to raise the £25,000 required.
In September 2005, the Mozzo Community Coffee Cart began trading. The Mozzo Cart sells high quality fair-trade organic espresso coffee, fairtrade tea and locally produced fresh juice, whilst promoting local artists and supporting the local community through the Mozzo Community to Community fund.
Amazingly the Mozzo Cart was imported new from Thailand, made road legal and then converted into a coffee cart by Damian who studied Yacht Design and Manufacture, whilst Grant who studied Business Management and Marketing got on with the business planning, branding, gaining community support and obtaining trading permission.
Once on location, the Mozzo Cart is self-sustaining, using solar and wind power to supply the coffee machine with the energy required make the hot drinks. This eco friendly cart is just the beginning for Mozzo, with Grant and Damian harbouring much grander plans for the future.
